The tradition stays alive as the United Way of Big Spring and Howard County gear up for the 69th annual campaign kick-off Aug. 17 at the Big Spring Country Club, starting at 6 p.m.
“As always, the entire board is ready to jump feet first into what we are expecting to be another successful campaign,” said Ann McClarty, United Way of Big Spring and Howard County president.
Tickets are $25 per person. Due to the venue, there will be limited seating. The evening will include heavy hors d'oeuvres, a cash bar, live music from Freeride and a silent auction.
“We have seen tremendous support from the community when it comes to donation items for the silent auction. This year there will be a wide selection of items to bid on, including a Rockhounds package, an autographed Texas Longhorn football, artwork, an assortment of gift baskets — and that’s just the tip of the iceberg,” said Larry Rodgers, campaign chair.
“The silent auction always seems to be a big hit and we aren’t expecting anything different this year. It’s truly amazing the unique items that you can find included in the auction that are made by or donated by people from right here in our community.”
The United Way of Big Spring and Howard County is still in the process of accepting donations for the silent auction. Donations can be dropped off at the United Way office or by contacting any United Way board member.
