Aubrey Ray Darden, 70, of Big Spring, went peacefully to be with his blessed Lord on Thursday, Aug.8, 2013, at his residence with his wife and family by his side. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 10, 2013, at the Nalley-Pickle & Welch Rosewood Chapel with his brother, Billy Jack Darden, officiating and Pastor Guy White Sr. delivering his eulogy. His Interment will follow at Trinity Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., Friday, Aug. 9, 2013, at the funeral home.
Aubrey was born Jan. 4, 1943, in Big Spring, Texas, to Jack and Lena Ellen (Coffman) Darden. He married Claudia June 12, 1970, in Ruidoso, N.M.
He graduated from Coahoma High School in 1961 and then began his 52-year career for Texas Electric/TXU/Oncor. He loved hunting, fishing, golfing and horseback riding. His real love though, was spending time with his family and friends. He was affectionately known as "Grumpy" by the grandkids. Grumpy was an excellent role model to all his kids and grandkids. His sense of style and good humor will be greatly missed.
Survivors include his wife, Claudia of Big Spring; one daughter, Brenda Thomas and husband Duane of Lake City, Colo.; five sons, Scott and wife Donna of Brownwood, Todd and wife Teresa, Carey, Ray and wife Melissa, and Ronald and wife Tammy, all of Big Spring; 14 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of friends.
Aubrey was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, G.A. and Joe Darden.
Pallbearers will be Harold Aberegg, Jr. Alexander, Ronnie Dodson, Larry Henderson and Bill Turner. Honorary pallbearers are friends and co-workers of Oncor.
