Colette Schraeder, 92, of St. Lawrence,died Tuesday, Aug. 13, 2013, at her residence. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 17, 2013, at the St. Lawrence Catholic Church with Father Raj officiating. Interment will follow at St. Lawrence Catholic Cemetery.
A rosary service will be at 6 p.m., Friday, Aug. 16, 2013, at St. Lawrence Catholic Church.
She was born Feb. 20, 1921, in Ballinger, Texas, and married A.W. Schraeder Nov. 18, 1940, in Olfen, Texas. He preceded her in death Dec. 23, 2002.
Colette came to St. Lawrence in 1947. She and A.W. were part of the founders of the St. Lawrence community. She was a homemaker and was very active as a 4-H leader while her children were in school. She served on the Federal Land Board, served as an election official for Glasscock County and was a huge Bearkat booster and fan.
She was a member of the St. Lawrence Catholic Church, the St. Theresa Altar Society and taught Bible school for many years.
Survivors include eight children, Dennis Schraeder and wife Deborah, Bill Schraeder, Betty Kohutek and husband Bob, Carolyn Eggemeyer and husband Ken, Kay Scott and husband Marc, Antoinette Pack and husband Harold, Gregory Schraeder and Theresa Daniels and husband Brian; two sisters, Lorine Braden and Genevieve Halfmann; 27 grandchildren, Charlene Belew, Jean Soles, Chris Schraeder, Michael Schraeder, Angela Schraeder, Shana Malanado, Brad Schraeder, Brandon Schraeder, Melissa Slusher, Danna Routh, Cheryl Maxie, Robby Kohutek, Stacy Kohutek, Tina Gothard, Alicia Latte, Jason Eggemeyer, Chad Scott, Tamara Lacy, Ashley Chapman, Coty Pruit, Lindy Pruit, Becky Pruit, George Chapman, Laurn Daniels, Lynsi Daniels, Brice Daniels and Logan Daniels; 39 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by a grandson, Derek Schraeder; her parents, Ed and Josephine Hoelscher; siblings, Isidore Hoelscher, Joe Hoelscher, Andrew Hoelscher, Victor Hoelscher, Norine Kujawski, Mary Buxkemper, Sarah Halfmann and Reynold Hoelscher; a daughter-in-law, Linda Schraeder; and a son-in-law, Lonnie Pruit.
