Big SpringSEMINOLE — The Lady Steers (3-3) fell short on the road Tuesday against the Seminole Lady Indians, losing 30-24 despite a strong defensive showing. BSHS Head Coach Mike Warren is focused on executing offensively before district play begins.“We played really well on defense,” Warren said. “We could not get going offensively. (Seinole) ran zone on us and we couldn't hit our outside shots.”Much of the reason for the Lady Steers' opponents using a zone defense attack is due to the scoring threat of Yaneira Tuitt.“She's our go-to person,” Warren said of Tuitt. “It was a great effort, (Tuitt) played a great game, but we have to find different ways to score.” The Lady Steers will be participating in the Andrews tournament beginning Thursday at 10:45 against Midland Classical. BSHS will also face Andrews at 5 p.m. Thursday. The Steers were outmatched by the Bobcats' depth, but according to BSHS Head Coach Cliff Thompson, it was a learning experience.“We didn't play a very good game,” Thompson said. “(San Angelo) is real fast, physical team, but it was good for us to see. It showed our weaknesses what we need to work on. It's better to happen now than later in the season.”Tavarez Walker led the Steers in scoring with 14 points. The Steers (2-2) will head to back to San Angelo over the weekend for a tournament.
