BSI premieres new STAAR video

A group of Big Spring Intermediate School students received a little bit of the the rock star treatment Thursday afternoon.
Billed as “a once in a life time — yearly event” by its creators, the new STAAR music video was premiered in front of the school and staff in the BSI gymnasium. It’s become a tradition now at BSI. Three years ago, Choir Director Billie Daves enlisted his long-time buddies — Corey Green, Jose Rameriz, and Jared Sanchez — to help shoot a comedic video staring a select group of students to be shown at the STAAR pep rally.
A day after “We put the STAAR test in its Place” — a parody of Megan Trainor’s top hit song “All About That Bass” — went up on the BSI Facebook site in April of 2015, it had already been viewed 59,000 times. This year, Daves and the gang, used four hit songs — A-ha’s “Take On Me,” MC “Hammer’s Can’t Touch This”, Lady Gaga’s “Poker Face”, and Katy Perry’s “Firework”.
Daves played the villain STAAR in the video while super heroes Kennedy Osborne, Devon Bennet-Christopher, Genevieve Bedinger, Eli Cobos, Toby Kirkham, Celestina Vela, Valerie Barrios, Skylyn Rivera, and Emily Matthews stepped up to stop STAAR’s villainous deeds through song and dance.
