Buffaloes rout Post, 11-1

FORSAN — It was all too much for the Post Antelopes. The combination of several hot Forsan bats and a no-hitter pitched by Foster Burnett turned out to be too much for Post to overcome as the Buffaloes took an 11-1 run-rule victory in District 3-2A action Tuesday afternoon. The Buffs made life difficult for Post from the very start, grabbing the lead in the first inning.Patrick Robles was the first Buffalo to reach base after smacking a double in his first at-bat. Burchett drew a walk, and was driven in by Blaise Coffman in the bottom of the first. After a scoreless second inning, Post tied the game in the top of the third, but that would be the last time an Antelope crossed home plate the rest of the day.The Buffaloes, meanwhile, began putting away the game in the bottom of the third inning. Robles, Bryson Phillips and Clayton Galloway drove in one run apiece, capped by a two-run single by Coffman, giving Forsan a 6-1 lead.A sacrifice fly by Robles in the bottom of the fourth scored two more runs for the Buffaloes. In the fifth, Trevor Burchett, who had already smacked two triples on the day, hit a single scoring Coffman, then Robles belted his third double of the game, which ended the game on the 10-run mercy rule. The Buffs now boast a 2-0 district record, and according to Coach Jason Phillips, the focus will remain on playing well-rounded baseball. “We hit the ball well, we fielded well, and (Burchett) pitched well once he settled down,” Phillips said. “Our offense was unbelievable. I wish we could play like this every time.”
