It was a tight, eight-inning battle for the Coahoma varsity baseball team vs. the Early Longhorns in Friday’s playoff match up, but the Bulldogs took advantage of Early’s many errors and came out on top with a 5-4 win in the first game of the series.
“ We got it done with some excellent defense today, and I am really proud of the guys for keeping their composure and competing despite some unfavorable circumstances,” said head baseball coach Bryan Jacobs. “Franklin didn’t have his best on the mound, but he fought hard and kept us in the game until Alex came in for the last two innings to secure the win. It was an all around effort and a good team win. Now, we’ve got to go get another one tomorrow”
The best two-out-of-three playoff series will continue tonight at 5 p.m. as the two teams will meet up in Eastland. Coahoma hopes to bring the series to an end with a sweep over Early, but a third game will follow if necessary.
