Dr. Carl Allen Dillaha

Dr. Carl Allen Dillaha, 87, of Fluvanna, Texas, died Tuesday, Dec. 27, 2011, at Cogdell Memorial Hospital in Snyder, Texas, after a lengthy illness.Graveside services for Dr. Dillaha will be held Friday, Dec. 30, 2011, at 2 p.m. at Hilllside Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Dana Mayfield officiating under the direction of Bell-Cypert-Funeral Home.Dr. Dillaha was born Oct. 25, 1924, in Little Rock, Ark., to Carl A. and Thelma (Cashion) Dillaha. He spent his school years in Little Rock and graduated high school in 1942.He married Helen Biggadike in Little Rock, Ark., on Aug. 30, 1947. She preceded him in death in February 1996. He then married Margaret Trevey Drum on June 4, 1997, and moved to her home in Fluvanna.He joined the Navy and in September 1944 at age 19. He was one of the youngest Naval officers in U.S. Navy history. He graduated from the University of Arkansas School of Medicine in June of 1951 with a medical doctorate degree.He moved to Snyder on Aug. 1, 1953, and opened a private practice with Dr. Thomas Hartley. He closed his practice in 1989 and worked as the medical director of the Price Daniel Unit in Snyder. He also served as medical director of Snyder Oaks Care Center, Snyder Healthcare Center and Odyssey Heathcare Hospice.He is survived by his wife, Margaret Dillaha of Fluvanna, Texas; one daughter, Maribeth Dillaha Bunn of Abilene, Texas; two sons, Steve Dillaha and wife Samantha of Snyder, Texas, and David Dillaha of Lafayette, La.; one stepson, Max and Valerie Drum of Snyder, Texas; one sister, Janice Young of Oakland, Calif.; a grandson, Jonathan Burton; and a great-grandson, Vandon Burton of Abilene, Texas.In addition to his first wife, he was preceded in death by his parents.Visitation will be Thursday, Dec. 29, 2011, from 6 p.m. until 7 p.m. at Bell-Cypert-Seale Funeral Home.Memorials can be made to Compass Hospice, 1003 E.
