The Forsan varsity softball team made their way to San Angelo on Friday to meet up with the Lady Punchers of Mason, Texas, for a warm-up game to prepare themselves for the playoffs. The Lady Buffs found themselves down early in the game and attempted to claw back, but came up short in a 4-3 defeat.
“Actually, I thought we did okay today. We were missing our starting pitcher and left fielder, who are also some of our big hitters. So, while Mason beat us by one, they did not see our true defense or hitting lineup,” said head softball coach Shanna Taylor. “Overall, I feel pretty good. We couldn’t quite get our timing down at the beginning of the game, but we still managed to score a few runs on them.”
The Lady Buffs’ upcoming playoff games are still TBD as they have a first-round bye after finishing first in their district.
