Lake C-City State Park plans June events

Summer vacation is upon us and Lake Colorado City State Park is kicking off the season with a handful of fun outdoor activities for the entire family. This month, the state park, located about 40 miles east of Big Spring, will be hosting a Volunteer Trail Work Day, All Around the Campfire, and Kayaking with a Ranger.
First on the agenda this month, the park will be hosting Volunteer Trail Work Day on Saturday, June 17. The park is currently putting in a new hiking trail and are looking for people to come out and help get the trail established.
To volunteer, participants can sign up online as TPWD volunteer or just show up that day. Volunteers will not have to pay an entrance fee. The work day will be held from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m.
Later that same day, the park will be hosting their semi-annual event, All Around the Campfire. O’Haver encourages everyone to come out to the park and enjoy the campfire.
While All Around the Campfire is a free event, campers will need to pay the regular entrance fee of $4 per adult to enter the state park. Children 12 and under are free. All Around the Campfire begins at 8 p.m. and lasts until 10 p.m.
The park will wrap up the month of activities on the water with Kayaking with a Ranger on June 17 from 10 a.m. to noon.
Kayaking with a Ranger is a free event but kayakers will still need to pay the daily entrance fee for enter the park.
