Oil rig fire in the Knott Community

Staff Writer

An oil rig fire in the Knott Community continues to burn today, according to Howard County Volunteer Fire Department Chief Tommy Sullivan. The fire does not pose a public threat at this time and the situation has been turned over to Diamond Back Energy, owner of the rig. The rig has been partially submerged in a lake bed for more than a year and rust may have played a part in the cause of the fire, Sullivan told the Herald. Sullivan said the Volunteer Fire Department will continued to monitor the situation.
