It’s just a fact of life: It gets pretty hot in Big Spring during the summer. The City of Big Spring’s Russ McEwen Family Aquatic Center offers a great way to beat that heat, and the Aquatic Center’s annual opening day Splash In is scheduled Saturday, June 3.
Big Spring Public Works Director Johnny Womack said because of pool capacity, Splash In will be split into two groups.
“We’ll have the annual Splash In and it’s free to the public. We’ll let the first 600 in at noon, because the pool only has a capacity of 600,” he said. “Then at 2:45 we’ll get everybody out of the pool and the pool area. At 3:15, we’ll let the next 600 in, and play til 6 o’clock. From noon until 2:45 KBEST radio and their group will be there doing a live broadcast. It’s just the annual kick-off of the aquatic center. The opening of the aquatic center.”
