Supporting the blue

What do you get when you offer frozen yogurt along with a chance to meet some area law enforcement officers? A very large crowd and happy smiles, it seems.
On Thursday night, a large crowd packed Froyo's and More on FM 700 for a meet and greet with area law enforcement officers. The event was called Froyo with the 5-0 and was held along with several other events this week for National Police Appreciation Week.
Tamika Sanchez was there with 2-year-old Melody Osorio to support her good friend Officer Celeste Valle, a 2-year veteran with the Big Spring Police Department.
“I show up to support her whenever I can,” Sanchez said.
Froyo with the 5-0 was organized by Terri Calley, a Big Spring Junior High School teacher, who wanted to create a family atmosphere to bring youths and officers together. The purpose is to show children and the general public that law enforcement officers are here to protect and serve the community at large, Calley said.
