Taking flight

Staff Writer

A pilot participting in the 2016 Big Spring Hang Gliding Nationals launches from a three-wheeled tow dolly Monday afternoon. This year, gliders are being towed by “trike”-style ultra-light aircrafts instead of the more familiar “Dragonfly” tow planes used in past years. Since there are only two tow trikes available, and due to physical challenges of the job, the tandem discovery flights offered to the public in past years are unavailable this year. Monday’s goal for glider pilots was Lamesa.
