BSISD employee in alleged illegal conduct with minor “does not pose a current threat” according to superintendent

“As the designated spokesperson and Superintendent for the Big Spring Independent School District, I am issuing the following statement: 

“Before Christmas, the District received information that a school employee is alleged to have engaged in illegal conduct with a minor that occurred several years ago, prior to the employee starting work with the District.

“The District takes all reports of employee misconduct involving students or minors seriously. The District immediately initiated an investigation into the reported conduct and informed law enforcement authorities of these allegations. Law enforcement was also aware of these allegations. Based on law enforcement’s investigation and information known to the District, school administration and law enforcement determined that this employee does not pose a current threat to student or staff safety.
