An accident on Interstate 20 just east of Odessa Monday evening left a Crane man dead.
At 6:38 p.m. Monday, Perry Whitley, 27, of Crane was driving his 2012 Toyota Corolla west on Interstate 20, following a 2020 Mack Granite driven by Ismael Delarosa, 37, of Midland. According to an accident report issued by the Texas Department of Public Safety, Whitley failed to control speed, and struck the rear of Delarosa's truck. While Delarosa was not injured in the accident, Whitley was pronounced dead at the scene of by Death Investigator Gilbert Villarreal of Midland County.
Both drivers were reportedly wearing safety belts at the time of the accident. Weather was reported as clear, and road conditions as dry.Â
