Two men were killed in a three-car collision in Upton County Thursday, according to a press release issued by the Texas Department of Public Safety.
According to the report, at about 6:18 a.m. Thursday, Lorenzo Carmona, 26, of Pasadena was driving his 2017 Chevrolet Silverado north on State Highway 349 near Mile Marker 368, about 24 miles south of Midland. Carmona was accompanied by Luis Carmona, 21, of Rio Grande City. Mariana Rodriguez, 22, and DeRichee Nkogallago, 31, were driving their 2020 Jeep Gladiator and 2021 Ford F-150, respectively, south on SH 349.
The report states tht Carmona “failed to drive in a single lane and veered into the southbound lanes,” striking Rodriguez's Jeep, causing it to roll. Carmona's vehicle then struck the front of Nkogallago's F-150.
Lorenzo Carmona and Nkogallego were pronounced dead at the scene of the accident by Justice of the Peace Stephanie Brown. Luis Carmona was transported to Medical Center Hospital in Odessa in critical condition. Rodriguez was not injured in the accident.
