Enrollment numbers up at Howard College

Staff Writer

Enrollment is up at Howard College's four campus largely due to dual credit students, according to Howard College officials
The college released fall enrollment figures Monday which show an increase of 6.3 percent district wide but, Howard College President Dr. Cheryl Sparks said interestingly, non-traditional student enrollment is down, prompting officials to pay close attention the emerging trend.
Non traditional students are usually older students returning to college for job retraining. Dual credit is a program offered to students taking both high school and college level classes. College officials delved into more details about this enrollment trend during Monday's board of trustee meeting.
