Big Spring Police loses valued staff member

The Big Spring Police Department lost a valued staff member.
"It's with heavy hearts that the Big Spring Police Department reports the sudden loss of one of our Civilian Employees," said Big Spring Police Chief Chad Williams in a news release sent out this morning. "
Julie VanDyken, 61, died this morning at Scenic Mountain Medical Center from an illness.
Ms. VanDyken has worked for the Big Spring Police Department for more than 12 years as a records technician.
"She will be greatly missed as she worked extremely hard and was dedicated to her job," Williams said. "She will be remembered for her warm smile and big heart toward her family, friends and fellow employees. The Big Spring Police Department sends our prayers and condolences to her family during this difficult time."
Funeral arrangements are being made by the family with Myers and Smith Funeral Home.
