The city of Big Spring officials expect to reopen the Big Spring Municipal Auditorium sometime in December.
According to Debbie Wegman, city of Big Spring community service director, the auditorium should be reopen for use in time for the popular Tchaikovsky: Nutcracker Ballet presented by the Big Spring Symphony and Midland Festival Ballet. For most of the year, the municipal auditorium has been closed for major renovation to upgrade the lighting, stage rigging, and draperies getting them on par for today’s use, Wegman said.
“The municipal auditorium is one of our most historic buildings, and we want to increase utilization of this important facility,” Wegman said. “With these improvements, we will be able to bring in more outside entertainment to utilize this facility.”
More renovation will continue but no more closures of the facility are expected for now, Wegman said.
