The only District 2-4A softball player to make the 4A All-State team resides in Big Spring, Texas.
Mia Oliva, the Lady Steers’ power-hitting senior catcher, was given the honor earlier this week. In a district that saw the Snyder Lady Tigers go undefeated, Oliva was the lone representative on the team. Brownwood High School and Wylie High School, who dominated play in district 6-4A where the Lady Steers will be next season, also came up empty in All-State recognition.
“It’s a great honor,” former Big Spring head coach Howell Martin said. Martin announced his retirement earlier this month.
“I was pretty excited when I first found out, I was so overwhelmed,” Oliva said.
