The final Big Spring Area Chamber of Commerce Summer Shopping Extravaganza is Thursday and features mostly businesses near FM 700.
“Participants really liked that we separated the event into sections of town,” said Debbye ValVerde, Big Spring Area Chamber of Commerce executive director. “This system allowed shoppers to concentrate on a section and allowed more time to browse and visit all businesses. We really wanted to increase foot traffic for these shops.”
Summer Shopping Extravaganza is an effort by the Chamber’s business development committee to promote the local business community. The original idea called for local businesses to extend their hours until 8 p.m. allowing residents who may not be able to shop their because of work schedules time to browse. Many businesses have offered a number of special deals and door prizes to increase foot traffic.
