Lila Adkins, former Associate Professor of Career & Technical Education at Howard College and Howard College alum, has been designated as Professor Emeritus and will be formally recognized during the college’s commencement ceremonies tonight.
“Lila Adkins was well known at Howard College for her devotion to the field of education, but more importantly to her students,” said Howard College President Dr. Cheryl Sparks. “Her ethics and values were evident in the way she conducted herself among her peers and students, always leading by example.”
Before a person can be designated as Professor Emeritus, they must complete 20 years of the college district, and be nominated by three faculty members.
Adkins’ career with Howard College began in 1984 and spanned 32 years when she ultimately retired in 2016.
Howard College Big Spring commencement ceremony will be held at 7 p.m. tonight on the Sonic Floor in the Dorothy Garrett Coliseum.
