The community is invited to Dora Roberts Rehabilitation Center for an Open House Thursday, June 15, 2017 from 2:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m. to celebrate and tour recently completed renovations and expansion of the Center’s aquatic and physical therapy facilities.
According to Penny Phillips, project director, these beautiful facilities were made possible through the generous support of the G.C. Broughton, Jr. Foundation. The $700,000 grant, received in early 2016, has provided great benefit to the community by allowing the center to accomplish improvements in three key areas.
The wellness center’s exercise pool received a complete rebuild, improving safety, cleanliness and air quality. A brand new second pool has been built on the east side of the property and will be dedicated to rehab patients receiving aquatic physical therapy treatment. The new underwater treadmill allowing therapists greater treatment options for patients needing therapeutic temperatures and low impact rehabilitation.
In addition to the two pools, the rehab department has expanded its physical therapy gym. Its location is directly east and adjacent to the current gym. This new enlarged gym space allows the therapists to treat greater numbers of patients more efficiently and privately.
Dora Roberts Rehabilitation Center, located at 306 W. 3rd Street, is our community’s non-profit healthcare facility established in 1961 through the generous support of the Dora Roberts Foundation. Rehabilitation services are provided on a sliding scale basis; the center treats every patient regardless of ability to pay.
