Bulldogettes win close game

Special to the Herald

Coahoma pitcher MaKynlee Overton stopped a Ralls Lady Rabbits rally in the top of the 7th to ensure the Bulldogettes’ 9-8 win in a very hard-fought softball game on a freezing Tuesday night in Forsan.
With the tying score on second base, Overton struck out Kenley Yocom but the ball came loose from catcher Kinzee Canalas’ glove. Yocam made a dash towards first but was easily tagged by first baseman Casie Grant to end the game.
“The girls did an excellent job,” said Alex Orosco, head coach for the Bulldogettes. “Elements are always tough to play against, and they got cold. It was cold for everybody, but the girls did a great job.”
A cold front blew into Howard County late afternoon dropping the temperature downward as the game progressed into the evening hours. Strong, chilly winds blew through the entire game as the players tried to stay warm on the field and fans wrapped themselves in blankets.
